Undisputedly the financial centre of Europe and currently offering the best value for money offices. The City of London was the original site of London's Roman settlement and is referred to as 'The Square Mile.' Unsurprisingly, office occupiers largely comprise Banks, Fund Managers, Insurance and Finance sector companies.

Attracting some 400,000 commuters every day, the area has numerous sky scrapers (many occupying Serviced Office operators) with companies focusing on money and profit and is home to The Bank of England, The London Stock Exchange, Lloyds of London as well as hundreds of banks, commodity traders, futures traders and Forex companies. As a world financial centre, The City ranks alongside other powerful financial centres including New York and Tokyo.

The City: After Work

Eating:

  • 1 Lombard Street Housed within the kind of handsome, neo-classical bank building that the City does better than anywhere, this long-standing brasserie is a grand, striking space, all cream walls and marble, with a huge domed skylight above the circular bar.
  • Bleecker When only a filthy-good burger made with rare-breed dry-aged beef will do, Bleecker in Bloomberg Arcade comes up trumps for the City’s meat-mad hordes.
  • Cafe Sou Modern Japanese cuisine, where you can also watch the robata chefs at work.

Drinking:

  • The London Cocktail Club The decor is super cool and the overall atmosphere is really swanky.  Happy hour is normally from 4-7pm, so perfect for an after work cocktail.
  • The Old Tea House Unique for a City pub, there’s a private patio tucked away for time out of the office and a basement function room complete with two pool tables. Great food menu, diverse selection of beer focusing on London's finest brewers
  • The Botanist, Broadgate This bar is a trendy and suave space on Broadgate Circle. Offering a premium drinking and dining experience, it's difficult not to be charmed by the funky tables, marbled pillars and cosy boothed seating
